I'll admit, I've been super-slacking on posting :) We've missed 2 date night adventures in the process! Ok, not really...I remember everything!
The Saturday before last, we decided to be a little low key. I decided to try out a recipe from Pinterest (Buffalo Chicken Casserole which BY THE WAY was delicious!) and to go again for an Elvis sundae (which they again didn't have), and then do a little fishing at Bing's Landing. We got to enjoy an IntraCoastal Mudslide sundae instead and caught a crab at Bing's landing, so we decided to come back here and fish with hot dogs (Terry's genius redneck method). During the course of that, we met 2 different sets of neighbors, caught a couple of fish (I caught a striped fish that bled a lot and I felt terrible for it!), and had a great time :)
Last week on Monday, I had lunch with Mom and Ry at Steak n' Shake, where Ryan ate almost all of my chili and more than half of her milkshake. He slept for like 3 hours when we got home! Tuesday was the Books A Million Storytime, Wednesday was a yucky day...and then there's Thursday :) Terry and Dad made plans to go to a beer tasting at ABC, so I thought it'd be fun to buy the stuff to make pizzas with--crusts, sauces, cheese, and a bunch of various topping--and you know what? It was quite fun and delicious :) We had 6 pizzas total (yeah, there were a bunch of leftovers), but we had a pepperoni, a meat-lovers, a bacon cheeseburger, buffalo chicken, and then 2 with other veggies on them. I dropped Terry and Dad off at the tasting, and Ry and I took a ride to Flagler Beach and drove back up along the coast back home listening to Keith Urban, Korn and Journey among some of the favorites :) When we got home, I tried another Pinterest inspired project where I melted broken crayons to make new ones :)
Friday night, we took Ryan's Spongebob kite to the Jungle Hut Beach and flew it and took and nice long walk. It was so nice! Ryan didn't run toward the water once and even let us sit for a little while and played in the sand.
This past date night was a bust. I woke up with a migraine that was so bad that my dad had to come over and watch Ryan. I had to cancel plans with a friend too :( --though once I felt better that night she did come over :) But it was such a weird migraine--my hands went numb at different points. First it was the right hand and the numbness spread from finger to finger, and they would gradually get feeling back as the next finger would go numb, and then maybe 20 minutes later it happened to the left hand. It lasted from 8 that morning to roughly 4:30 that afternoon. I was even wearing sunglasses inside because I was so sensitive to light, and I usually NEVER cry, but found tears pouring down my face on a couple of occasions! The same thing happened Sunday, except that migraine was far worse. I woke up with it and was drenched in a cold sweat. Terry said I was mumbling pretty incoherently and like my dad, suggested I go to the ER. I finally was able to get comfortable on the sofa and take some good meds and slept most of the day. I'm not sure if it was the pressure dropping from Tropical Storm Isaac, or those yummy coconut waters I've been drinking--but whatever it was, it made me want to die!!!
Today I feel good again. It's been a yucky, rainy day from Isaac, but it's been good to get a little more relaxation in again :)

Storms, Pancakes, and More Storms!!
So in the story of The Daily Life of Brandi, we left off at our anniversary, but having left out my play date at Books A Million. Well, Tuesday morning we went over to Hwy 100 (it's where the remainder of the shops in Palm Coast are), and piddled around in Michael's to get feathers and gigantic eyes for Libby's owls, to McDonald's for a chocolate chip frappe, and to the bookstore for their reading time. I ran into my library friend outside of Michael's (great minds think alike), and we met back up shortly at the bookstore. They read 2 stories and served chocolate milk and cookies--you know which part of that made it a MUST for us to go every week!
The rest of the week was the usual stormy afternoon weather, so nothing really eventful happened. Mom and Dad stopped by on Friday and we went to our cute little ice cream place for a cupcake sundae only for them to be out of cupcakes, certain ice creams and milk...so Terry, Ryan and I basically ate our little scoops of ice cream in front of them since they couldn't have their sundaes or milkshakes they had so had their heart set on. We saw a drunk man fall on the sidewalk on the way home and that was amusing....
Saturday we got up early (that's me, Terry, Ryan, Mom and Dad) and went to De Leon Springs State Park to check out the Old Spanish Sugar Mill and Griddle House we've been hearing so much about. It was a really easy drive and it was less than an hour away. It's $6.00 per carload to get into the park, and once you're in there's a giant swimming area at the spring that goes from 3-30 ft deep, and on the other side of a little bridge is where you can go fishing, canoeing, etc. The Griddle House had a wait time of an hour and half, but they told us we could go swimming or whatever and they'd call our name over the loud speaker when it was time. Funny thing was, we sort of almost brought bathing suits and didn't, so that wasn't really an option. We let Ryan play on the playground, did several laps around the spring, sat down, stood up, checked our status on the list, and repeat. It was the longest 2 hours EVER!! But, once we were called in it was well worth the wait, we'll just have to plan better next time and/or go during the week during the fall/winter.
How it works is you pay around $5 for all you can eat pancakes, with additional $$ if you want fun toppings like blueberries or chocolate chips, or if you want bacon or sausage or eggs. You sit at a table with a griddle in the middle and they bring out 2 large pitchers of pancake batter (one is original, the other is a multi-grain mixture which is amazing despite how it sounds!), and you spray the griddle with cooking spray, pour the batter and make your own stuff :) I obviously got chocolate chips for my pancakes (yes, I shared), and some bacon, and we all ate ourselves silly. My parents got eggs and they had to cook those on the griddle too--Dad said they were good but he wouldn't do it next time (the meats are cooked in the back). All in all, it was a really fun and delicious experience!
We came home and we crashed at one point or another before continuing on with the day--probably from dealing with the heat and wrestling with Ry for so long! That night, Mom and Dad kept Ryan and Terry and I decided we'd go walk over to the European Village and check out Farley's. We ran into Steve the Rattlesnake Guy (remember him?), and he was a little creepy this time, so we carried on our way. Farley's has no food--yet--they said, so we went to Europa, sat down, looked at the menu and decided we weren't feeling it, so we went to our old faithful--Mezzalunas :) We went back to Farley's for a couple of drinks--I tried a "Sex With the Captain"--which is basically Sex on the Beach but with Captain Morgan instead of vodka (gag) and it was delicious :) We tried to stay up for the meteor shower but crashed instead.
Yesterday we went to the beach that morning and the waves were PERFECT for boogie boarding. No rip current, good size, and didn't crash where you scraped your knees the whole ride (though I did get some scrapes since the waves would push you all the way to the shore, but that's perfectly reasonable when you start out in waist deep water!). We took a walk on the beach when the waves died down and then came home and relaxed. I did some painting, Terry played some XBox, and then Ry came home :)
Today's been a lazy, stormy day. We skipped fish taco night for my headache, but there's always next week :)

Top 8 Stories of Silliness to Honor Our 8th Wedding Anniversary
Since today is our 8 year wedding anniversary, it seems only appropriate to do a blog pertaining to our marriage :) On this day in 2004, we got married at Campbellton United Methodist Church in Fairburn. Our colors were pink and burgundy and we had a little bear theme going on with regard to the reception (bride and groom bear cakes, gummy bears, teddy grahams , you get the picture). My Matron of Honor was Carolann, bridesmaids were Jessica, Stacie, Haleigh and Amanda, flower girl was Cassidy, and on Terry's side the Best Man was Pawpaw, groomsmen Jesse, Travis, DJ and J Wood, and Jay was the ring bearer :)
So I gave Terry the options of "Top 8 Reasons I Love Him," "Top 8 Most Memorable Moments," or "Top 8 Silliest Moments" to choose from for this blog, and he chose The Top 8 Silliest Moments-- can't argue that!!! Terry said the parameters can go outside of marriage and can include any time we have known each other...which is why #8 shall start us off!
8. The Pig Incident
When me and Terry first started actually hanging out, he would come over to my parent's house and we would ride four wheelers and golf carts and play outside in general. Well, one day Terry and I were on the purple golf cart having either an intense discussion or a mild argument, when suddenly Terry decided we'd just drive off. Apparently, he didn't hear the shrill "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" of the reverse signal going off and somehow thought we were in the forward motion and floored the gas pedal to go up the hill on the driveway. You can imagine our surprise when the golf cart surged backward and crashed into Pebbles the Pig's doghouse, knocking the roof off and sending Pebbles running out squealing furiously. She wasn't hurt and we were able to stop the cart quickly. It didn't take long for the back door to open and my parents come out to see what all that noise was....it still makes me laugh envisioning the scene, because it was just as ridiculous trying to explain it then as it is now!
7. Terry's Night Terrors...
This Top 8 contender can be broken down into 3 stories--that of "Dude's Antlers," "The Snake," and "I KNEW IT!"
The story of "Dude's Antlers" occurred at our apartment in Douglasville. One night, I awoke from my slumber to Terry jumping out of bed and saying something to the effect of "Oh no oh no oh no!!" and running into the closet--this particular closet was tiny and only contained the cat's litterbox, so needless to say I was puzzled. I finally was able to ask him what was wrong and he said "Dude's antlers just kept breaking!" ....um, what?? Apparently, he was dreaming that my dad was being attacked by a llama and that he was using deer antlers to fight them off and that they kept breaking...
"The Snake" occurred while we were at my parent's house between not resigning our lease and finding a house. One night, Terry jumped up and freaked out saying "There's something in the room!" "What?!" I asked, unsure if it was an animal, a person, a ghost...in the meantime, Terry was STANDING on the edge of our bed, balancing, and lunged for the light. "IT'S A SNAKE!!" he said as he hit the switch and began to dart all over the room like a mad man. I thought it was possible, we were at my mom's house which was also the home of 3 snakes, so my heart was racing as he looked. He stopped abruptly and said "I was just dreaming," turned the light off and went back to bed. While he snored, I was wide awake!
"I KNEW IT!!" occurred at the house in Dallas. One night, Terry jumped out of bed, yelling "I KNEW IT!" and proceed to run through the house, turning all the lights on. "You knew what??" I asked, running behind him. "Someone's breaking in!" Immediately, I started turning the lights off behind him, and finally he stopped and we heard Sara scratching (if I could make the font smaller I would), but scratching on the door. Once again, he realized this was not so, and went back to bed to go to sleep while I was wide awake!
6. OK, ok, and MINE....
Which is called "Brandi and The Leprechaun/Elf
I was maybe 5 months pregnant when one night I jumped up, RAN down the bed and hopped off at the end saying "Oh no oh no oh no!" Terry jumped up, panicked and asked what was wrong and putting his hands on my stomach because he thought something was wrong with Ryan. "It was a leprechaun!" Or maybe I said elf, but either way I immediately cracked up laughing and Terry did not think it was so funny...but I had been dreaming that a leprechaun or elf had popped up behind my pillow and was smiling at me!
5. The Ghost Hunt
Well, there have been several ghost hunts. There were those at the end of Kite Road in Rico where we'd all get out of the car and my mom would turn the headlights off only for us to run as fast as we could back, then there were those at Ghost Rd. where she would slam on the brakes and scream prompting Terry to yell "What the fuuuuuuuuureak?!"...and there's Noonday Baptist Church's cemetery ghost hunt where a group of us went there. Terry, his little friend Trever and another guy got out of the car while Amanda and I stayed in (yeah, I'm not stupid). Anyway, we got bored and I called Trever's phone out of boredom and when it went to voicemail I left a very dumb message whispering "I'm the dead girl!" and hung up. Amanda and I were sitting there when all of a sudden we saw all 3 flashlights bobbing around and moving very rapidly toward us. On the video it can be heard of Trever listening to his message, cussing and saying they had to go FAST! Terry, the ringleader of the tough talking, was right there running with him :)
4. The Night of the Failed Parties
We got invited to 2 Halloween parties in one night--one was at a college friend's friend's house and the other was at a coworker's house. We went last minute shopping for costumes, and when that failed, I ended up being Barbie Bandit (just wore black, big sunglasses and carried a fake gun), and Terry played the black guy from Walker Texas Ranger (Basically he just wore a cowboy hat lol). We went to the college party first and Terry was having the time of his life playing beer pong and making new friends when the friend that invited us called me to the side and said "One of your probationers is here, like this is his house." Sure enough, the guy that had looked shocked to see me walk in was there and he was the roommate of the guy throwing the party. I got Terry and told him we had to go (I didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable in their own home!), and he was all disappointed. "Is it because I spilled the beer??" I told him no, that I would explain in the car and we'd just go to the next party.
The next party, we arrived to 3 couples--all married to cops, where they were playing cards and having a nice grown-up gathering, and in walks me and Terry (who had trouble getting up there stairs from his beer pong). 2 of the couples left very shortly after our arrival, and I'm sure it was because of us lol....but that night we left and realized we had fit in at neither party, so we just went home and had fun ourselves! :)
3. The Proposal
We got engaged on November 20, 2003. Terry was spending the night at my parent's house and I was doing homework upstairs when I heard him come in. After a few minutes, I noticed he still hadn't come upstairs so I went downstairs. He quickly put something in his kangaroo pouch of his hoodie and I tried to reach for it. "It's just peanuts!" Terry said when I demanded to know what he had. We went upstairs so I could finish my project and he turned my chair around and kissed me. He then pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I put the ring on and kept saying "Oh my God!" over and over, and finally he asked "Does that mean yes?!" I told him yes, and we went downstairs to show my parents, who were sitting on the bowflex in the dark anxiously awaiting lol...so cute!
2. The First Kiss
Yes, our first kiss definitely makes the Silly Moments list. Terry and I always had chemistry-- ALWAYS, but there was a degree to which we were both scared to act on it. I was just flat out a chicken (relevant later to the story), and Terry was afraid of ruining our friendship. Well one night, Terry begged my mom to come over (it was after 7:30 and already dark because it was November, 2000), and she finally agreed to let him come. We went downstairs to the basement (I don't recall why now....), and me and Terry sat in the golf cart to talk. He said "You know, people are always saying we should go out and stuff, so maybe we should kiss to see if there's anything there." I thought this was both a fantastic idea and a stupid idea--fantastic because I had ALWAYS wanted to kiss him and I had waited for this moment for like, ever, and stupid because I didn't need to kiss him to know how I felt, I already knew! Anyway, I agree, but first I had to spit my gum out. I went outside where our friend Jamie was, put the gum in the trash and he asked me what in the world I was doing....apparently this kiss was premeditated and he was confused by my need to get rid of gum! Anyway, I went back in and declared that I was ready, and he was too....and then we just sat there awkwardly. "Um, I thought you were going to kiss me," I said to him. "Well, YOU should kiss me!" he rebutted....so we proceeded to argue over who should kiss who, and in the midst of this argument I noticed a chicken levitating out of the corner of my eye and it was Jamie messing with us. He then left with the chicken and Terry suggested turning the lights off, as he was about to do it, my dad came downstairs, so Terry flipped the lights on and took off running outside. Dad looked confused when he opened the door, wondering why I was standing there looking puzzled alone in the basement, but went back upstairs lol. FINALLY Terry came back in, and we decided that we'd call Jamie to come in there and then count to 3 to kiss. Looking back, I don't know why it was necessary to call Jamie in, maybe to witness it? But we did exactly that, counted to 3 and had the most amazing kiss ever :) In the midst of all of that, Jamie also swore a random dog tried to attack him because we heard him yell "That's not Katie!"....but you know, that's enough!
1. Whatcha-ma-call-it Wedding Night.....that one's an inside joke ;)
Obviously, there are sooooo many more silly stories, but those are the first ones I could think of :) Who knows what next year's list will entail :)
So I gave Terry the options of "Top 8 Reasons I Love Him," "Top 8 Most Memorable Moments," or "Top 8 Silliest Moments" to choose from for this blog, and he chose The Top 8 Silliest Moments-- can't argue that!!! Backlash, Art with Ryan and Fishin in the Dark
I considered the prospect of discontinuing my facebook and blog last week but ultimately decided against it. I'm pretty sure that there's not a whole lot of people that actually read this, but there's enough reading my facebook to drive me nuts with the backlash! ...This backlash in question is referring to those who take every little tidbit of information I put out there and passing judgement on it as if I put my entire life out there....um, wrong!!! I'm not one of those people who go on facebook and hash it out every time someone pisses me off, or every time I get a high bill in the mail, or whenever I just feel blue and want the whole world to know it to try to get some sympathy....if I'm having a bad day, I generally stay away from blogging and facebook. Sure, I put more in depth thought into my blog, but it's actually very vague and very small compared to my actual life....and most importantly regarding my blog and facebook, I enjoy it, and I decided that I don't particularly care if people think that I put my whole life out there as long as they don't get the disillusionment that they can build a valid argument against me using what they see here or there! With that being said, I shall pick up where I left off last time!
I have only been to the mailbox once since the snake incident. It wasn't a pleasant experience, as I jumped at every tiny noise and felt like I didn't have enough eyes in my head to search the entire premises as necessary!
Aside from that, Ryan and I did alot of finger painting and water color painting last week, Thursday we played at the beach a little, and on Friday I FINALLY took him to the local library for toddler reading only to find out that it was the last day of the summer sessions....booooo!!! But, it was still fun. The theme for that day was "Dreams and Wishes" and they did a little puppet show, let them color a starry night with star stickers and chalk on a black piece of construction paper, and did a few other little interactive things that the library back "home" didn't really do. I met a girl and her daughter there that told me about another reading thing at the bookstore, so Ryan and I are going to meet her there tomorrow :)
Friday night I went with Mom and her friends to Flagler Beach First Fridays where they were doing music in the park and a little "Dancing With The Stars" show that had several people running for election performing. Among the many disturbing things I saw (for instance, butt tattoos, belly dancing transsexual's weird partner--yes, the partner was the weird one, and some unfortunate stretching poses that were angled to my disadvantage at the wrong moments) the butt tattoo may have been the worst...ANYWAY, we had a great time, and as we were leaving a group of girls came up to us on the sidewalk and gave me a flier for roller derby and started telling me how they can teach me and how I should check it out, etc. I didn't go to their match yesterday (is it a match? game? tournament?), but it's still at the back of my mind for later. Obviously, it's not something I could start like TODAY.
Saturday, Terry got off work a little late but we still had our date night. The weather was iffy, so we had Mexican for dinner (shared fajitas again), and then went back home and fished from the pavilion out back. Terry caught the world's tiniest catfish, I caught nothing (but I know I fed a bunch of fish!), and I got to see a dolphin AND FINALLY a manatee up close! Made my night :) ...that and playing "Fishin in the Dark" by Nitty Gritty Dirt Band while we were, you know, fishing in the dark! Yeah, I'm a dork like that! Sunday we finally went through everything we brought back from the vandal trip to GA, so that was pretty uneventful. OH but I did clean the house AND try out a fun thing from pinterest where I did the shaving cream with food coloring so Ryan could paint in the tub--so cute and fun!
Today I took Ryan to a "Teddy Bear Picnic" at the community center up the road. It was their first ever and they had a guy from the newspaper there that interviewed me and Ryan :) It was actually really cute! Ryan took his Chocolate Bear from Valentine's Day last year and they read stories, gave the kids popcorn and water and let them color (it was a tree that they gave them stickers to put "apples" on the tree that related to a book we read), and then they got to play on the playground. I'm pretty excited from them to do it next month, and the best part is that it was free! We went to dinner at the Golden Lion tonight and met up with some friends and their kids and had a good time as always, AND I officially made another friend there taking my Florida Friend Tally to a grand total of THREE! Haha, it's good enough for me :)
Tomorrow is another reading day at Books A Million (were there any of those in GA?), so we're pretty excited! Now I'm off to bed, as Ryan talked alot in his sleep last night and I may or may not have had too much caffeine to actually go to sleep in addition to that :)
