Yes, I have marked off one of my items on my Florida Bucket List! I'll also be adding one here shortly, but first, I have to tell of my journey to marking this item off--as it was indeed, quite a journey!!!
I expected this blog to be about how incredibly relieved I was to have CLOSED ON THE HOUSE, officially making our great move to Florida a complete success! We flew up Wednesday of last week, got up early Thursday and drove to Alpharetta to closing, and then found a ride back to the airport that afternoon (Thanks Bazydlos!!!). We got to the airport and the flights were terrible, so we listed ourselves on an 8:30 flight to Daytona and decided to explore the new F Concourse because we heard it had The Varsity on it (which proved to be true). It was a great idea, because "The Plane Train" took us through what seemed like an alternate universe to get there, and the concourse was immaculate (as well as our chili cheeseburger/chili cheese dog dinner). We missed the 8:30 flight and went back to Hazel's (where she made homemade brownies), and got up to try again the next day.
We ended up having to fly into Melbourne, FL because the flights into Daytona, Jacksonville and Orlando were again, all terrible. Mom, Dad and & Ryan picked us up and we headed over to Cocoa Beach to Ron Jon's. It was very different from what I expected in that it was freakin huge! We were there for over an hour and probably could have stayed longer since they have places to eat there too. We came away with a little puppy thing that Ryan named "Halloween", 2 new Hard Slick boogie boards, a Ron Jon hoodie jacket for me, and a cute Ron Jon outfit for Ryan....alot more damage could have been done there (and probably will be in the future if I can ever save $350 for a surf board), but we were behaving :)
From there, we went to Titusville and ate at a place called Dixie Crossroads. They were having a special on lobster dinners ironically enough, so we decided it would be most appropriate to celebrate the week's events with a phenomenal lobster dinner. Ryan especially loved feeding the turtles, fish and pigeons outside of the restaurant (and Mom thought she was Snow White because she was holding one....) But all in all that place was delicious!!! Mom wasn't thrilled about her lobster looking at her, so while she was in the bathroom we put all of ours on her plate so that when she came back they were all looking at her! We'll be going back whenever we make our Space Station journey!
Last night we went to Hurricane Patty's for their Vampire Ball--I went as Jessica from True Blood--complete with red hair that I now have to suffer through from 26/28 more washes, and Terry went as Eric. We had shrimp tacos, tried some themed drinks (Killer Margarita, some sort of witch's brew that had Malibu and pop rocks in it, and a candy corn shot), and listened to a bluesy/rock band and watched drunk people dance and eat leaves off of trees!
Today we're going to Daytona Beach for an air show, and possibly to a roller derby tonight...
And to add to my bucket list....I was inspired at Ron Jon's by their Christmas ornament section. There were seashells that were glittered up by themselves and to form angels, reindeer, etc, so my next Florida Must Do is going to be to make Christmas ornaments out of stuff I find at the beach for my little pink Christmas tree that a friend of my parents' bought me last year. I'm pretty freakin excited :)
